Post by ***@aol.com (Noah Tall)I just read that Charlie Louvin has pancreatic cancer, and is about to
undergo some surgery.
Although not quite as terminal as lung cancer, pancreatic cancer is
still one of the most lethal.
The picture I saw of him was less than flattering, but here's hoping
for a succesful intervention and as speedy as a recovery as possible.
One of my favorite (duets). "Cash on the Barrel Head" was one of my
early favorites.

RIP Hank Cochran
Post by ***@aol.com (Noah Tall)Songwriting Legend Hank Cochran Passes Away
Last night, Jamey Johnson, Billy Ray Cyrus and Buddy Cannon dropped by to
sing songs with Hank, and this morning the legendary songwriter was
surrounded by family and friends when he passed away at his
Hendersonville, Tennessee home. A private, family memorial will be held in
the near future, and a public service will follow. Details will be
forthcoming.
The family asks that you respect their privacy at this time and, in lieu
of flowers, request those wishing to honor Hank make donations to the
Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame Foundation.
Hank was inducted in to the Nashville Songwriters Association
International Hall of Fame by unanimous vote in 1974, and was honored by
B.M.I. in June 2009 for his six-decade long career of hits, that includes
country classics: "I Fall To Pieces," "Make The World Go Away," "Ocean
Front Property," "The Chair" and "Don't You Ever Get Tired Of Hurting Me."
Also like many a singer-songwriter he had hits with other people's
songs
too. He charted with "All Of Me Belongs To You" (Merle Haggard),
"Sally Was
A Good Ole Girl" (Harlan Howard), and "A Good Country Song" (Bob
Forshee).
He would have been 75 on August 2, providing another example of
something
I've noticed a lot in recent years. People are more likely to die
within a
month of so (before or after) their birthday than any other time of
the
year.
