Ya know, after Alan's last CD, I'm not sure I EVER want to hear
anything from him again, BUT oldies. :) I know he got shut out at the
last award show, in fact I don't even think he got a nomination on his
own. WHEN EXACTLY was the last time THAT ever happened ? LOL !!!!!!!
Anyone have any chart info on how the songs from Like Red On A Rose
have done ? Anyhow, your post got me thinking, and it was just over a
year ago that I bought his CD, and got one of the biggest shocks of my
life, in fact it just might have been THE biggest shock/disappointment
I've ever had purchasing Country music. Judging by his lack of
critical and chart support, apparently I was correct, again ! You can
say what you want about the internet, but where else did ANYONE say
ANYTHING questioning this bizarre Alan Jackson release ?

I thought I'd include it, just to emphasize that I haven't changed my
opinion of this load of CRAP one bit ! This is the post from Oct 6,
2006 !

Who stole Alan Jackson, and his entire band, and what in the hell was
that I just listened to on his new CD "Like Red On A Rose"
?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

He should have named in "Like Shi* On A Stick" ! :)

I mean c'mon, the greatest Country singer songwriter since Merle
Haggard and not one new song ? And it sounds it ! Instead we're
"treated" to tripe by Robert Lee Castleman ? HELLO !!!!!!!! Melanie
Castleman ? HELLO ! IS ANYBODY HOME ????????????? What was this
amatuer
songwriter's night at "Cracker Barrell" ?

WTF IS THIS ALL ABOUT ?

Is is the same guy who took "Murder On Music Row" to heart a few
years
ago, and took a stand for George Jones at one of the award shows by
singing one of his songs, because they wouldn't let George sing it ?

WTF ?

Is he on some prescription medication, or has he suffered a stroke or
something ? I mean this is just totally bizarre.

With the exception of the "Chris Gaines" fiasco, this may well be,
the
biggest bonehead musical decision in Country Music history.

I am in total shock.

Forget Buddy Holly, this might be "the day the music died" !

Say hello to Joe Galente. It was only a matter of time.

Say hello to Joe Galante. It was only a matter of time.<
Ya know,at some point in time you're gonna have to give up your
conspiracy theories, and leave that little grassy knoll in downtown
Dallas. :)

Seriously, you can't blame Joe Galante for every problem in Country
music history. In fact, in the liner notes in small print Alan
thanks ? :) everyone in the Universe, including his wife, children,
God, etc ... :) and when he mentions Galante he specifically says "
for being receptive to a blind project". It's pretty obvious Galante
had less than ANYTHING to do with this stink bomb, so much so that by
Alan's own admission he basically "blind-sided" Galante with it.

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that Galante would
NEVER have allowed Alison Krauss to be within 100 miles of ANY
recording venture he was involved in. Galante wants to obviously
appeal to the widest possible audience, and Krauss is the poster child
for "niche marketing". :)

With Dan Tyminski's added involvement this bad boy has Alison Krauss
and Alison Krauss ONLY stamped ALL OVER IT . Somebody got Alan's ear
and tragically convinced him to do this, and out of curiosity I'd like
to know WHO , not to mention WHY . :)

P.S. - Was that Garth Brooks I saw swinging from a tree in Alan's
yard ? :) LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, it's truly just ... I don't know ... SHOCKING, I guess is the
only way to describe it.

I'm reminded of George Jones who AJ admires so much . Back in the mid
50's , when Elvis Presley "hit" and rockabilly/ rock 'n' roll was the
rage, a lot of Country singers cut some rock 'n' roll/rockabilly to
try to capitalize on it's popularity. The famous story was that years
later whenever George Jones came across any of his rockabilly/rock 'n'
roll records he would immediately smash them to bits, regardless of
where he was or who owned them. I guess he thought he could destroy
all proof that they ever existed. : )

Somehow, I'm afraid AJ might feel the same way about this " Red On A
Rose" stink bomb, someday. :)
