Post by OldMan ZekeDon Williams - (I'm Just A) Country Boy lyrics & video
I ain't gonna marry in the fall I ain't gonna marry in the spring
Cause I'm in love with a pretty little girl who wears a diamond ring
And I'm just a country boy money have I none
But I've got silver in the stars and gold in morning sun gold in morning
sun
Never gonna kiss the ruby red lips of the prettiest girl in town
Never gonna ask her if she'd marry me I know she'd turn me down
Cause I'm just a country boy...
Never could afford a store bought ring with the sparkling diamond stone
All I could afford is a loving heart the only one I own
Cause I'm just a country boy...
Don starred in WW & th Dixie Dancekings
with Burt Reynolds (see hm without hat)
A real good movie

I remember a scene in that movie where Jerry Reed is complaining about
his receding hairline and Burt Reynolds (WW) says to him: "Any woman
can have hair, it takes a man to lose it..."
I love that line! It's right up there with "Grass don't grow on busy
streets." and "God only made a few perfect heads. The rest he put hair
on."
My favorite line of the year so far, though, is "This just ain't
gonna be your day, Esker..."
Snort, good one, Zeke!!
For Blue:
Well I grew up wild and free
Walkin' these fields in my bare feet
There wasn't no place I couldn't go
With a twenty-two rifle and a fishing pole
CHORUS:
Well I live in the city but don't fit in
You know its a pity the shape I'm in
Well I got no home and I got no choice
Oh Lord, have mercy on a country boy
When I was young I remember well
I'd hunt the wild turkey and the bob-white quail
The river was clear and deep back then
And fishin' lines tied to the willow limb
Well they dammed the river, they dammed the stream
They cut down the cypress and the sweet gum trees
There's a laundra' mat and a barber shop
And now the whole meadow is a parkin' lot
