There was another post about this list. I replied with a question but
I thought it might be appropriate for it's own thread.

Sorta wonderin' why you would want that list? CMT hasn't got a clue
to the best country albums of all time in my opinion. Blue
There's a couple decent albums on the list, but "ALL TIME" is a long
time. And I have a hell of a lot of albums that go back a long time,
and none of them are on the list. Seriously, shouldn't there be at
least one Hank Sr. on the list? One Hank Snow? "Red Headed Stranger"
#1???
Here's a question for the group. Which album from the list would you
put at the number one position??
I have the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" is
loaded with classic songs and features a lot of guest artists. It
would be my number one.

Hey Zeke, I call _any_ collection of several songs to be an "album",
whether it's on an LP, 8-track tape, cassette tape, CD, or whatever. Am
I wrong?? (Lost count of how many times I have been!) <g> -- Dick

Hey Tom, that definition of "album" you quoted, i.e.,"one or more
recordings ....", would make 78s and 45s "albums" with only 1 (?) or 2
songs on them! Never heard one of them referred to as an album. And even
the occasional 4-song 45s with 2 songs per side never met my definition
of album, but what the hell do I know -- nothing, according to Esker <g>

Back in the days of 78s, an "album" was _not_ the music itself, but was
what the records were stored in, sort of akin to a stamp album. The
record albums were like large books, whose "pages" were basically
"sleeves" to put the 78's in I think each album held something like 10
records. I still have my 78's in 'em, but haven't counted pages lately.

To be honest, not sure which one I would list as number one but I would
have to guess that I've listened to Johnny Cash's American Recordings
more than any other on this list.
