Wasn't there a ballad about Harry Truman, the man who stayed too long
on Mt. St. Helens?
Maybe not. It could be the years playing tricks on me again...
<Grin>
Chicago had a hit with "Harry Truman" (a reference to the president) in
1975, but I guess you're speaking of the song released a few years ago by

I like this song, am watching it again.
That's right, watch the song, don't listen to it! Doh!
Now we are even for your little snide comment elsewhere!!!

Here's the one I was trying to remember. It's by R. W. Stone

Now if we all concentrate at the same time maybe we get can H.T. and
Uni to trade places ;-))P

141 could post faster than he, but Uni's still looking for 143...

Can't say that I've heard the song. And, where could this have possibly
charted, let alone reach #1? Somewhere near Mt. St. Helens? I'm not saying
it's a bad song, but it is rather mediocre, except for the subject matter.

It was probably on folk or country charts, I don't know. Remember, I
wasn't even sure it was a song! R.W. Stone is actually a pair of
writers named Ron Allen and Steve Asplund. They did another off the
waller calling themselves the Zambonis, concocted the biting satire,
"If You Can't Beat 'Em, Beat 'Em (Tonya's Song)."

I wonder how that one goes...

I found this little tidbit in a forum (it's about a year old so the email
address may be out of date):

"My name is Ron Allen. I wrote and sang the Harry Truman song and recorded
it with my music partner, Steve Asplund the day after the mountain blew. I
can be reached at: ***@stgco.com or you can view the entire song along
with video of the eruption on Youtube.com type in "Harry Truman Song" and
double click on the picture of Harry Truman standing on his front porch with
a bourbon and coke in hand. I hope you enjoy the song which is now 28 years
old."
