Greetings!

Hindsight is 20/20 they say and it's also interesting to say the
least, the things you can uncover, or maybe I should ay discover,
decades later.

Today while listening to "Country And Western Guitars" an instrumental
LP from 1963 credited to "Cliff Parman And His Boys" , I was
immediately struck by the the fact that the guitarists on the record
included an unheard of at that time, "Jerry Reed", who's RCA contract
was still about 4 years away, along with regular session guitarists
like Fred Carter and Kelso Herston, the legendary "Pig" Robbins on
piano, Buddy Killen on bass and Willie Ackerman on drums.

Anyhow, what struck me even more amazingly than the "super session" of
soon to be legendary instrumentalists included on this LP, was also
that it included on guitar, one Charlie McCoy! That's right THE
Charlie McCoy who today is recognized as probably the most famous
harmonica player in Country music history!

Pretty amazing!

To add to my amazement, the very next record I listened to, was also
an instrumental LP from almost 50 years ago, by Don Parmley and Billy
Strange. Again, what's really amazing is that when you read the liner
notes, you discover that the legendary Chris Hillman of the Byrds,
Desert Rose Band etc ... is playing mandolin, and none other than our
own "Vernon Gosdin" is playing guitar, Hal Blaine on drums, and "Equen
Gosdin" which I am left to ASS/U/ME is what we know today as Rex
Gosdin, is on bass!

The magic of vinyl! You always had that big 12 inch or so picture on
the front, capturing everyone in a time capsule of the day, and then
you got to flip it over while listening to it, and got to discover all
kinds of neat stuff like a mini-biography!

When was the last time you read a CDs liner notes????

Dang, ol' Zeke peaked my interest to step back in here, have to admit
that's a good post. I've still got lots of lp's, probably not
approachin' the 25,000 or so you have, but, the vinyl is cool.

Greetings!
They're especially nice when you read the songs on the 33 1/3 album,
purchased it, and when you play it, the song that was the main reason
you bought the album, is NOT on the album.
