Just saw her picture on AOL promoting her new Christmas CD, and I
gotta ask "What the hell happened to her ? "

How old is she ? She always seemed so pert and petite, and in the
picture she's got this big pasty face, her hair color looks awful, and
her eyes look like a cross between Rocky Raccoon and Elvira .

The CD picture wasn't as bad, but still, it's tough to get old ! : )

She looks like someone's grandmother.

Now that I think of it, maybe she is. OUCH !

The Pat Benatar emulation is going into high-gear.

Her eyes always look like that. She must be trying to also emulate a
drag-queen.

I can't stand that bland, bellowing bore!

I can't stand that bland, bellowing bore!<
I only have one CD of hers, "Timeless" where she covered about 15 - 20
standards, and I have to admit I thought it was pretty darned good.
But the difference between the picture of her on the back of that CD,
and the one they showed on AOL the other day was shocking, which is
why I had to comment.

Having said that, the reason I only have one CD of hers, is I agree a
lot of the stuff I've heard by her, is not something I want to hear
again. That song "for the girls" or whatever it was was alright, but I
still to this day remember waking up to my clock radio to some
abomination by her that scared me half to death about 5 or 10 years
ago. : ) It was so awful I actually posted about it in here ,
inquiring what the hell it was I just listened to, and somebody
answered it was I believe they said the 7th single from some CD of
hers, and since the new CD wasn't ready, they were "digging" to come
up with something. I've never forgotten it. Just unbelievable.

Anyhow, your point about bellowing is of course well founded, as that
whole Star Search template everyone was following - start out with 40
seconds of piano and build to an Ella Fitzgerald "Is it "live" or is
it memorex ending" - was pretty hard on the ears. Who knows , they may
still be doing it because as most everyone knows I don't listen.
(Though I did hear a song last week by maybe Montgomery Gentry ? "What
do you think about that" or something like that that I thought was
pretty good)

But that Johnny Bush, Martina McBride and of course sometimes even Ray
Price habit of oversinging ruined a ton of songs by those three. I've
always agreed with Hank Williams Jr. I believe it was who said a great
song doesn't care who sings it.

Sadly, sometimes I think Willie Nelson is the ONLY one who really
understands that. : )
