Not my favorite and I wouldn't recommend it, T Texas Tyler's "Dad Gave
My Dog Away".

To atone, the old man bought the kid a new bicycle, but the kid was
still pissed off and said he'd never do that to his kid! Maybe he
should've picked up more of the dog crap! <g>

I know how that is with kids insisting they'll do all the dog chores --
yeah, for about a week and then Ma and Pa end up doin' it! Been there,
done that! <g> -- Dick

How in hell can any list of country music dog songs not include the
classic "Old Shep"??? Guaranteed to bring tears to the eyes of any dog
lover! And "Old Blue" ("I let him down on a silver chain ...") oughtta
be near the top of any list too. -- Dick

P.S. I think I hear someone singing in the distance! Oh oh, It's Don
Meredith singin' "Turn Out The Lights, The Party's Over"!

I hear Hank singin Move over big Dog
Came in last night at half past ten
That baby of mine wouldnt let me in
So move it on over (move it on over)
Move it on over (move it on over)
Move over little dog cause the big dogs moving in

Shes changed the lock on my front door
My door key dont fit no more
So get it on over (move it on over)
Scoot it on over (move it on over)
Move over skinny dog cause the fat dogs moving in

This dog house here is mighty small
But its better than no house at all
So ease it on over (move it on over)
Drag it on over (move it on over)
Move over old dog cause a new dogs moving in

She told me not to play around
But I done let the deal go down
So pack it on over (move it on over)
Tote it on over (move it on over)
Move over nice dog cause a mad dogs moving in

She warned me once, she warned me twice
But I dont take no ones advice
So scratch it on over (move it on over)
Shake it on over (move it on over)
Move over short dog cause the tall dogs moving in

Shell crawl back to me on her knees
Ill be busy scratching fleas
So slide it on over (move it on over)
Sneak it on over (move it on over)
Move over good dog cause a mad dogs moving in

Remember pup, before you whine
That sides yours and this sides mine
So shove it on over (move it on over)
Sweep it on over (move it on over)
Move over cold dog cause a hot dogs moving in

Of course George Thorogood changed it some:
I came in late one night about a half past 10
That woman of mine wouldn't let me in
Rock it on over
Move it on over
Move over little dog Big old dog moving in...

She told me not to mess around
But I just let the deal go down
Move it on over
Rock it on over
Move over little dog, big old dog moving in!

Love that song!

This is a test to see if anyone is paying attention, Zeke...
There are some non-country titles here, but they are still good songs.
Even if they don't have many words. Ha! This is only a test...

Move Over Rover! *I'm* in the Doghouse Now
Tom T. Hall - Old Dogs, Children and Watermelon Wine
Red Sovine - Little Joe
SOP's - Move Along Little Doggies
Baja Boys - Who Let the Dogs out
Dick Van Dyke - One Part Dog and Nine Parts Cat
Lobo - Me and You and a Dog Named Boo
Doris Day or Patty Page - How much is that Doggy in the Window
Beatles - Hey Bulldog
Pelvis Restless - Hound Dog
Rolf Harris - Big Dog
Sonny & Brownie - Let me Be Your Big Dog
Ventures - Bulldog
Confederate Railroad - Feed Jake
Hoyt Axton - Della and the Dealer and a Dog Named Jake and a Cat Named
Kalamazoo
CW McCall - Classifieds (dogs name is Frank ;-)

Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Someone already took ol'
Shep.

Just found out Saturday that mine has a tumor on his left front leg - bone
cancer. The only "treatment" is to amputate the leg but that only slows
down the cancer and buys him a few months more. I don't think I can put him

Youcon Dog Irish was a ball dog. He was a German Sheppard with one
crooked ear. He was named Youcon because the man we got him from said
his girlfriend conned him into taking the dog. He had this unique
talent for parking it where we needed to go from room to room. Of
course when you started to walk over him, you never knew if he was
going to get up or move right under your feet...

It didn't matter what activity needed to be done, it had to wait so we
could throw him a dang tennis ball...
He wouldn't just give it back to you, either, oh no, you had to
practically beg him for it.

I thought I was pulling one over on him a few times by using more than
one ball. He could easily hold 2 in his mouth but when he had 3 it was
easier to get one out! He was such a sight, and a wonderful pain in
the petunias, or which ever flower bed was in the best shade. He dug
holes in our yard to hide stuff (like my gloves ;), but he was such
good company and a part of our family, that we just put up with it.

There are two paw prints in the concrete slab in front of our shed. I
scolded him at the time, but now that he is gone, they are a neat
memorial to my dead best friend. He had a bump in his stomach so we
took him to the vet about 5 years ago. The vet removed a grapefruit
sized tumor. Youcon died the day he was supposed to come home, because
he had a stroke.

I guess the moral of the story is we paid $1600 for Youcon's
operation, but he didn't make it home. Not that money is everything,
but D. Lawrence may want to consider this before deciding whether to
remove his dogs' cancerous leg.
I feel for you guys. When your pet is gone, you can still cherish
those precious moments and memories...

That's a nice story. I don't think there's a reader of this group's
posts that haven't
had a dog with one or more of Youcon's traits.
We're on our fourth Airedale, Airehead as I call 'em, and they make
life interesting
as Youcon did.

Thanks for sharing your story. We've been going to the same vet for 15
years. Every time there's a decision to be made, I've always asked him,
"What would you do if it were your dog?" And I've always followed his
advice (including two hip surgeries on our other dog). Without reservation,
he said he wouldn't do it. So we're going to make him as comfortable as we
can until that miserable day he looks at us with those big, brown eyes and
tells us that he's had enough. We're fortunate that we still have one other
dog, although we're worried about how she will react without her brother.

I swore I'd never have another dog. That lasted about 5 years, and
then along comes Nikki. Her owners couldn't keep her any more because
she chased their horses. Our gain, for sure. She shares some of
Youcon's traits, but she is more of a chewer. Any loose stuff is fair
game!! We just got her in February, and she is very much a part of our
family.

Did I mention the cats? That's another story!! It don't count here,
this is Dog Country ;-)P

We just watched "Marley and Me," and that movie will bring back a lot
of memories and feelings, so be prepared if you haven't seen it yet.
Especially the end and the part about the vet.

Thank you for sharing, too!
