If there are any Tom T. Hall fans out there, I just recently
bought a new CD called "Tom T. Hall Sings Miss Dixie & Tom T." Even
though he had retired from the road, he told his wife (Miss Dixie)
that as a Christmas present for her, he would do a CD of songs that
they both had written and this was the result. (No, I'm not a
publicist or connected in any way with them - just a long time fan.)
While there are many good tunes on it, there is one song that really
struck me - "A Hero From Harlan". It's about a soldier who has been
killed in the war returning home. It's not really an anti-war song -
it just tells it like it is and as a veteran who has attended quite a
few military funerals, it really strikes a chord. While their web
site lets you listen to snippets of some of the songs, the limited
number of verses does not begin to do justice to the feeling expressed
by the whole song. I haven't seen publicity on this CD, so thought
maybe some of you might be interested. Their web site is"

Thanks for the link! I read the full lyrics to "A Hero From Harlan" and
it sure does read like a Tom T song. E.T.

Speaking of new TOm T. releases, Hux Records has reissued the early 70's
Mercury LP's "We All Got Together" and "The Storyteller" together on 1 cd.
They had earlier released the two-fer "Rhymer and Other Five and Dimers" and
"In Search Of A Song".

Has anyone bought either of these? Are there any decent liner notes?

PUH-LEEZE ! Didn't the joke of allowing your wife to intrude into your
"talent" space go out the window with Yoko Ono ??????? I mean c'mon
Tom, grow some BALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell your wife to stay at the pool or the manicurist or wherever she
wastes her days, and be grateful she has a meal ticket she can ride !

If she thinks she's talented, have her release her own CD like
Waylon's wife just did, :) and she'll clam up just as quickly.
Somebody has to tell the Emperor, or in these cases the Empress that
she has no clothers ! YIKES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If those two are examples of the price you have to pay for a long term
marriage in Country music, as Mel Tillis said "Alright, I'll sign the
papers' ! :)

Speaking of which, did you read the story about Ving Rhames' dogs ?
I've always been partial to Dobermans, but after reading up on Fila
Brasileiro mastiffs , I gotta admit I was awfully impressed. Hard to
believe that a dog could be better than a Doberman, but if all the
literature is correct, they sould like they just might be .

Pretty amazing.
