Was Johnny Cash ambidextrous?

I watched a show about Johnny Cash on TV last night, and saw him playing
guitar both right-handed and left-handed. Could he really play with either
hand, or were they flipping the film image and confusing me? Thanks!

I suspect they were image shifting.
