Legendary songwriter Hank Cochran ("The Chair," "I Fall to Pieces") is out
of the hospital and received an "all-clear" CT scan after successful surgery
to treat pancreatic cancer.

According to Cochran's publicist, the cancer was caught in its absolute
earliest stages, and a full recovery for the 73-year-old songwriter is
anticipated.

Sad news indeed, but as any fan of this great music knows all too
well, they're not making them anymore like the ones we love, and these
inevitable health scares and passings become more common every year.
I said this a while back when one of the old singers , maybe Hank
Thompson, was diagnosed with lung cancer, and sadly it proved
prophetic. If ANYONE still needs a reason to quit smoking, the one
cancer the medical community has had very little success with, and the
statistics are there for anyone who wants to prove it to themselves,
is lung cancer. Sadly for Hank Cochran, pancreatic cancer is almost as
bad.

And what would you expect them to say ? Any fan of "classic" Country
music, by definition has to be a fan of the GREAT Hank Cochran. And
though I'm sure everyone is hoping for a full recovery, "anticipated"
is sadly, probably a bit of stretch . .

Although I'm not very optimistic about a "full recovery", hopefully
they'll be able to mange his condition somehow, to allow him many many
more years of life .

Truly, one of the all-time GREATS !

Believe again . : )

I seem to recollect it having it on the Monument label . Now don't
make me go dig it out ! : ) When you factor in I'm never wrong , : )
I'd say Monument it is .

I agree it's one of his best, because he's a little less than a great
singer, but as I always say it still comes down to the song, as he's
covered a lot of the songs he wrote for others that became standards,
aand they're all still worth a listen, EVEN BY HIM . : )

As for my favorite, I personally LOVE his "Live" version of "Make The
World Go Away" with Jeannie Seely and I believe Johnny Gimble from
Willie Nelson's "Honeysuckle Rose" soundtrack .

Essential ! Just PROVES what I always say, that it still comes down to
the song . AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please. He's not important enough to get his own spelling . He's a
good 10 years or so beyond even mattering. I'd have to stop and do the
counting, but I don't even think he's in the Top 10 .

Great in his day, and a great competitor, but he just makes too many
mistakes to ever win on his own .

Please. The ONLY person who ever heard Hank's version on a Liberty 45
was Hank himself. : )

Since he obviously never released a LP on Liberty is the Monument LP
cut a re-issue of the Liberty 45 ?
