Folks,
As you know, Willie Nelson recorded "Blue eyes crying in the rain" by
Fred Rose, in 1975 I think it was. And he sings three verses:
-----
In the twilight glow I see her
Blue eyes cryin' in the rain
When we kissed goodbye and parted
I knew we'd never meet again
Love is like a dyin' ember
Only memories remain
Through the ages I'll remember
Blue eyes cryin' in the rain
Some day when we meet up yonder
We'll stroll hand in hand again
In a land that knows no partin'
Blue eyes cryin' in the rain
-----
But when I searched the net for the lyrics, I found lyrics with a
fourth verse:
-----
Now my hair has turned to silver
All my life I've loved in vain
I can see her star in heaven
Blue eyes cryin' in the rain
-----
Does anyone know why Willie didn't record that verse? Did he find it
too sad, perhaps? Or is this perhaps an unofficial verse added by
someone other than Fred Rose?
