While listening to "Riders In the Sky" last wek, I heard them do a
song called "Nevada". Since our song for Nevada is "Philadelphia

more deserving, and since we don't have anything from them, I'm going
to replace the Maddox Brother's and Rose song with "Nevada" by Riders
In The Sky

Rather good list, although if we could find a substitute for Meet Me
in Montana, it would be even better. Something about Marie Osmond's
singing always made me grit my teeth.

Hey Eric, I'll acknowledge that I read your post. It's your list, you
can change it. I still check the group message board. Looks like it's
about run the course. Seems there's only a handful of us left that
looks at it.

It ran it's course a LOOOONG time ago. It's the nature of the beast.
We're talking about songs more than 50 years old in many cases, and
not only are the performers passing on, so are a lot of the readers/
contributors.

If it was a popularity contest, and we could get paid, I'd be
tweeeting a million times a day like half the country. : )

I read it, and if I had my druthers, I would substitute Merle
Haggard's "Big City" for "Meet me in Montana."

Typical woman. : ) I'm betting if Marie Osmond wasn't so attractive
you'd have no issue with her voice.

Having said that, the REAL heart of the matter is one of the GREATEST
country singers of all-time, is on there with his signature song about
the very state he was born in, and you'd trade that for a back-handed
reference to Montana in a song about life in the city, which of course
has NOTHING to do with Montana????

Sorry, WRONG ANSWER!!!!!!!! : )

Couldn't think of another one. Montana Cafe isn't about Montana.

Who are the most attractive country singers in your opinion? I'll tell
you whether I'm prejudiced or not.

Lol!!! They're ALL attractive, that's how they become national
singers. We've had this arguement a million times, and of course it
pertains to politicians, actors, etc ... ANYTHING that relies on the
visual medium. The "music video" changed the landscape forever.

To answer your question, again as I've said a million times I don't
listen/watch/buy modern country music, so I can't comment on anyone
currently "relevant". I'm SURE I'm leaving out some of my favorites
and forgetting a lot of really beautiful singers, but here's a small
sample size off the top of my head.

I still remember seeing Faith Hill on Nashville Now with Ralph Emery,
and remember her being stunningly beautiful BEFORE she hit it big, got
married, had children etc ... Beauty is a fading flower, and between
all the probable surgeries, hair stlyle changes, make-up etc ... in
some pictures I don't even recognize her. Same with Lorrie Morgan.
Goldie Hill was pretty hot in her day. I also remember thinking
Barbara Mandrell and Linda Ronstadt were beautiful in their day, but
age wasn't very kind to Linda Ronstadt. On the other hand some people
like Connie Smith I always thought was kind of plain with a lot of
"bad hair" when she first appeared on the scene, but she seemed to
become more beautiful as she got older, which is pretty rare, I
think.

I've always been a little partial to dark-haired women, so I'd include
Leona Williams in "that plain with bad hair" class with Connie Smith,
who seemed to get better looking as they got older, and since you
mentioned her I'd include Marie Osmond in that group too. On the other
end of the spectrum I don't want to end without mentioning that great
dark-haired Country music vixen Kim Kardashian. : ) Alas like Faith
Hill, she was stunningly beautiful, but the facial surgeries have done
her a disservice, I believe.
I'll tell you whether I'm prejudiced or not.<
Again, WRONG ANSWER!!!! : ) You already have. LOL!!! I'm like a card
player. I don't listen to WHAT people say (write) I WATCH them.
Actions speak louder than words. You have an "issue" with Marie
Osmond. : )

Greetings all my loyal subjects and predicates. : ) I was just listening to Merle Travis sing "Missouri" and it reminded me of this list. I see we have Hank Penny down for a song of the same name, and it seems to me Merle Travis is a little more deserving to have a song included in my NOT so humble opinion, so I'm going to replace "Missouri" by Hank Penny and replace it with "Missouri" by Merle Travis. Hope everyone is doing just as well/miserably as ever. : ) Take care.

LOL! Not at ALL. Nobody is more deserving than Hank Williams. Having said that, Tennessee Border was a hit for Red Foley and has come to be more associated with him so I can't replace it with Hank's version. Secondly you bring up a GREAT point in that Hank Williams is not included in the list and that HAS to be corrected. Finally, even though it doesn't specifically mention West Virginia in the title, I'm gonna replace Wilma Lee and Stoney with John Denver's "Take Me Home Country Roads" for West Virginia. Now I'll return you to your regularly scheduled program. : )
