Thread? I thought this whole site was about dead. I checked out
another site recommended by TK, but, never went on. How 'bout it you
ol' Ft. Hood veteran name the singers from Pa.

Merle Haggard could be California, hell, the Okie has lived there for

California.Seems like most folks from that state are from somewheres

a mule) as being fm Bakersfield (actually
born in Texas) but The Hag who is associated
in my mind with Okla. was born in Bakersfield

Gene Pitney was from Connecticut. He wasn't primarily a country act,
but he did record some country songs and he performed at the Opry. I
think he recorded (or performed) with George Jones, too. It might be
stretching things, but it's hard to drum up too many country singers
from New England.

I guess even though her music isn't my cup of tea, I have to mention
Taylor Swift and being from PA. She;s in pretty good company.

TAYLOR SWIFT NAMED ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR

Fans gave Taylor Swift her first ACM Entertainer of the Year trophy
April 3rd at the 46th Academy of Country Music Awards. It was a record
breaking year with nearly 600,000 fans casting their votes for
Entertainer, making it the largest vote ever for this category.

Swift is the eighth and youngest female to take the award in the 40-
year history of this category; previous winners include Loretta Lynn
in 1975, Dolly Parton in 1977, Barbara Mandrell in 1980, Reba McEntire
in 1994, Shania Twain in 1999, The Dixie Chicks in 2000 and Carrie
Underwood in 2008 &
2009.

ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR
Taylor Swift

As previously announced, Entertainer of the Year winner Taylor Swift
will be presented
with the Jim Reeves International Award at ACM Honors, a special event
held annually
in the fall at the historic Ryman Auditorium. This ACM Special Award
is presented to
an individual for outstanding contributions to the acceptance of
country music throughout
the world.
