Isnt Grand Old Opry a copyrighted name, and refers onlty to the Opry in
Nashville, and to use it in advertising you must be a member or an act
booked thru them?
Reason I m asking is a tour promoter here is advertising a "Grand Ole
Opry Tour" to a dinner theater in NJ then latter in the brochure says"
grand old Opry type show with singers in the style of George
Jones,Loretta Lynn etc,
Some how I think something is wrong, and I approached the promoter and
was told I didnt know what I was talking about
But on first glance it looked like a real Opry show, not Opry type.and
there could be a copyright or trade mark violation

Dear Lonnie,

Yes, the Grand Ole Opry is copyrighted. "Opry" is NOT (there are lots of
"Opry" shows, and maybe their mistake was not copyrighting "Opry" as well).

and trademarked. the promoter is infringing upon the copyright and
