I've been looking at some old unlabelled video tapes recently to see
what's on 'em, and I ran across one from 1987 which had an Opry show
commemorating Hank Snow's 40th year on the Opry, and the Glazer Brothers
were guests.
I'm a big Hank fan, but all I know about the Glazers is that I like
their "Lovin' Her Was Easier".
From what I understood the emcee to say, the Glazers had gone separate
ways, but had come together for this tribute to Hank.
The two bearded fancy dressed guys (Tompall and Jim or Chuck ?) did
virtually all the singing and all the guitar (?) playing, while the
clean-cut looking third guy mostly just stood quietly in the background
with no instrument. Occasionally he'd approach the one mike they shared
to join in, but the other two had their heads so close together hogging
the mike that I could barely see the third guy just behind them. Seemed
very unusual to me, like the third guy was "odd man out" most of the
time. He did get to sing once by himself, very briefly.
It gave me the impression he was there just to be there. Is there a
story behind that?? -- Dick
